Hello friends! Hope y’all are doing well! Today I had my two favorite vegan ingredients (almond milk and NOOCH aka nutritional yeast) lying around and I decided to make my all time favorite vegan “cheez” sauce recipe! This sauce can be used for nachos, macaroni and cheese, or you can just DRINK it. I kid I kid. But it is seriously good and EASY. We usually season according to what we are using the sauce for! For example for nachos we add a bit of chili powder and some pico de gallo; for macaroni and cheese we add some mustard powder and onion/garlic can be added as well! I hope you all enjoy it as much as we do!
Yields about 1 cup of cheez sauce
- 3 cups almond milk
- 2/3 cup nutritional yeast
- salt to taste
- On medium heat bring almond milk to a boil.
- Once the almond milk has boiled add the nutritional yeast and continue to heat the mixture on medium heat until the mixture thickens about 20 minutes. Stir the mixture continuously to ensure that the bottom does not burn.
- Once the mixture has thickened add salt and your desired seasonings. REMEMBER TO SALT and SEASON at the end!!
